How You Learn

Privacy Policy

Built for learning, not for tracking.

The assessment is free and you can take it without telling us anything about yourself. There is no account, no password, and nothing to sign up for. The only thing we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you want the study guide sent to you.

What we collect

Your email address, but only if you ask for the study guide. Nothing else on this site requires it.

Your result, alongside that email address — which of the three channels came out strongest, your second strongest, and the scores behind them. We keep it so the study guide and any follow-up emails match the result you actually got rather than a generic version.

What you told us you are studying, if you picked something from the dropdown. It is optional and you can leave it blank.

Anonymous usage statistics — how many people opened a page, started the assessment and finished it. These are counts. They are not linked to your email address.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name, your age, your location, your phone number, or anything about your health or education history.

Your individual answers to the twenty questions are never sent to us. They exist only in your own browser while you take the assessment, and they are gone when you close the tab. We receive the three totals, not how you answered any particular question.

There is no database behind this site. There is no account for anyone to break into, because there are no accounts.

We do not sell your information, rent it, or share it with advertisers. There are no advertising trackers on this site.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visitors and see which pages get read. It sets cookies in your browser to tell a returning visitor from a new one. If you block cookies or use an ad blocker, the site works exactly the same — you simply will not be counted.

The only other thing this site stores in your browser is a single marker remembering that you have already unlocked the study guide, so you are not asked for your email twice on the same device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Who else can see it

Brevo stores the email list and sends the study guide and follow-up emails. Your address and result are held there.

Google Analytics receives the anonymous page and assessment counts described above. It never receives your email address.

Heroku hosts the site and, like any web host, keeps short-lived server logs of requests.

That is the entire list. Nobody else receives anything.

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Every email we send has a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom, and using it removes you.

If you would rather be erased completely, email hello@howyoulearn.org and we will delete your address and your stored result. You do not have to explain why, and we will confirm once it is done.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy of it. Email hello@howyoulearn.org and we will answer within 30 days.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the law gives you these rights and you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

This site is written for adults and older students and is not aimed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child. If you believe a child has given us an email address, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes, and who runs this

If what we collect ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. We will not quietly start collecting something new.

How You Learn is run by Catalyst Code LLC. Questions about anything on this page go to hello@howyoulearn.org.
